The Watters Scholarship for Higher Education: The Watters Scholarship for Higher Education is for graduate students pursuing a major in International Studies. Applicants must be enrolled at least part-time in the INST MA program and have a minimum UNT GPA of 3.5. This award is available to be used for UNT tuition/fees as well as UNT-approved international education abroad experience tuition/fees. Application deadline for the inaugural award of this scholarship is March 31, 2025.
The Model International Organization Alumni Association Scholarship: The Model International Organization Alumni Association Scholarship is for full-time UNT students who have made a significant contribution to the North Texas Invitational Model United Nations (or its successor), model conferences, leadership and/or the advancement of Model International Organization. Applicants must be an active, dues-paying member of MIO for at least one semester at UNT, and an International Studies Major with a GPA of 3.0 or above. (Please note: MIO went on hiatus during the COVID-19 pandemic. We will update deadlines for this award in Fall 2023).
Richard Abrams Family Scholarship: The Richard Abrams Family Scholarship is for International Studies majors who are enrolled in a course in Jewish Studies at the time of scholarship application or will enroll in a course prior to the time the scholarship is awarded; in the event no applicant meets these criteria, then available funds will be held for future awards using the criteria listed above. Applicants must be enrolled full-time (unless they are about to graduate and full-time enrollment is not necessary to obtain their degree) and have a minimum UNT GPA of 3.0. Application deadline for the final award of this scholarship is October 13, 2023, for Spring 2024.
