Former United Nations Special Rapporteur on violence against women & board member of the United Nations Research Institute for Social Development

Dr. Ertürk is a Turkish sociologist with a dynamic career as a political activist and advocate as well as scholar. She has served the United Nations as a special rapporteur on viloence against women, examining the intersections of state, cultural, and family gender violence. She has also served the Council of Europe Committee on the Prevention of Torture and the UN Research Institute for Social Development. She is the author of many publications in English and Turkish, including Violence without Borders: Pardigm, Policy and Praxis Concerning Violence against Women (2016) and Feminist Advocacy, Family Law and Violence Against Women (2018)
